He holds an expert Diploma in Intellectual Capital and Knowledge Management from IUEE and Insead, France. He was a Fellow in at Harvard University and University of Manchester. He is author and co-author of several papers on the Resource-Based View, Intellectual Capital and Knowledge Management.
 
MIRIAM DELGADO-VERDE is Assistant Professor of Business Administration at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain. She was a Fellow at Manchester Institute of Innovation Research (Manchester Business School-University of Manchester, UK) from 2008 to 2009. She is author and co-author of several papers, books, and book chapters on the Resource-Based View, Intellectual Capital, Technological Innovation.
 
PEDRO LÓPEZ SÁEZ is Professor of Business Administration at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain. He was a Fellow at Real Complutense de Madrid-Harvard University from 2004 to 2005. Seeking the Killer App to Shatter the Gender Glass Ceiling

Elisabeth Kelan is that rare academic who is ultra wonky and ultra accessible. She can go toe-to-toe with the most academic of academics as well as provide the most compelling sound bytes you'll hear on diversity as she participates on panels and does interviews with the media.

In "Performing Gender at Work," we get the deep academic and so this is not a book for the masses. But for those who can get into and like the rigor of academic discourse, the pay-off of reading Kelan is stunning.

Here she's the consummate researcher and deep thinker who tests her theories following the letter and the spirit of research's best practices for achieving bullet-proof findings. She knows both her sources and competing theories inside out. The academia goes deep as she makes distinctions between the ethnomethodological and the discursive/poststructural approaches to understanding how gender differences show up in the workplace. And, most importantly, she makes the argument for a synthesis between the two that is achievable through a "discourse analysis."

And discourse analysis is the pathway she suggests out of a current contradiction today in gender studies and practices. What Dr. Kelan sets out to do, in what I believe a book form of her PhD dissertation, is to show how to be consistent between the theories and practices around gender. While Dr. Kelan agrees with the theories making the case that gender is a "social construct" (that is, as a society we make gender differences at work what they are rather than them being based on something innate), she sees these same social construct thinkers come up with solutions that treat gender "as a stable, self-evident category."

Why is breaking this esoteric logjam important? As she lays it out in her argument, until we do we are not going to get very far in truly bringing down the glass ceiling. Dr. Kelan uses her field research at a couple of tech companies in Switzerland to dissect the complexities of gender dynamics in the workplace and how even in no-hostile, even rhetorically affirming places for women professionals, the social constructs we are all caught in unawares doom women from truly achieving their fullest potential.

Heady stuff yes. And thank god for Dr. Kelan's pop side. She can turn her own heavy meal into a sprightly cocktail when she speaks to general audiences. But for that you need to catch her on the diversity speaking circuit or Google her to surface her newspaper and magazine contributions.

Elisabeth Kelan's voice is one that must be heard and heeded as we continue to seek the killer app to breakthrough on the advancement of women in the workplace.

Grossinger's Flannery O'Conner award- winning collection of five stories and one short novella focuses on Jewish families, father-and-son relationships, and the vicissitudes of life. "Dinosaurs" is a three-generational story featuring the curmudgeonly Grampa Zolly, reminiscent of the grandfather in Max Apple's Roommates (LJ 6/15/94). Grampa Zolly teaches his grandson Lenny the wonders of dinosaurs but is disappointed when Lenny decides to become a paleontologist; he would have preferred his grandson to join the family business. The son in "Hearts and Minds" begins his narration by observing, "When I was nineteen my father went out for a pack of smokes and never came back." He tries desperately to make sense of his 1960s drug-cult parents and finally realizes that he cannot. In the title novella, two families struggle to deal with the grief of the Holocaust and how it affected their lives. While focusing on failed fathers and the disruptions of family life, this well-written collection nevertheless hails the human spirit. A novella and four stories that earned newcomer Grossinger the 15th annual Flannery O'Connor Award for short fiction. While not of the ``Cancer in Connecticut'' school of new fiction, Grossinger's besieged characters succumb with enough regularity to form their own subgenre--the ``Bright's Disease in the Bronx'' school, perhaps--and to keep the proceedings mostly funereal throughout. In ``Dinosaurs,'' a midwestern academic reminisces about his grandfather Zolly, who has just passed on. ``Leisure World'' is a portrait of the spites and affections of elderly retirees living out their last days in Florida, whereas ``Hearts and Minds'' describes the disintegration of a Vietnam vet from the perspective of his teenaged son. ``Home Burial'' focuses on madness rather than death, offering a boy's account of his POW father who nearly died in Korea and has never really recovered. Like most of the book, ``Home Burial'' is marred by Grossinger's unwillingness to let the plot speak for itself, especially in its more melancholy moments--``He held me in his sad gaze for more than a minute, and the feel of his dog tags against my face and chest when I hugged him has remained with me for all these years''--and its sentimentality becomes cloying very quickly. The most ambitious work in the collection, the title novella, is more nuanced. It describes a Jewish boy's changing sense of identity and history as a result of his contact with a family of Holocaust survivors who move into his hometown in the late 1940s. Relying on the perspective of the survivors themselves, as well as on the narrator who observes them, the story has a depth and subtlety that the others lack. Pointless to buy, just positive common sense.

Really this little book is pointless to buy, slightly Unitarian Universalist in thinking (new age Shirley McClain type stuff), but if you sift through it all, the message is truly simple and just plain common sense. In a nutshell: remember you are stronger than you think, you have the power to change your life just by beginning with positive thoughts followed by positive actions, be thankful for what you have and give back to the community in thanksgiving, you are a creative productive citizen of the universe. That's it. Nothing more needed. Could have been a pamphlet.

I DIDNT KNOW WHAT TO SAY SO I COPYED SOMETHING Of course all this jiggling and joggling of body is caused by an unquiet, uncontrolled mind, in a cure for it lies in quieting, controlling and restful erecting the mind. I have found no aid so great as that of making the mind follow the body movements. The motion of an awning mind are not only very jerky and wasteful but they are exceedingly quick. Such a mind vibrates with the speed again destructiveness of lightning, and the owner simply cannot compel it to be absolute be quiet. But he can direct as well as to a very great extent. By directing the mind to follow the body motions, which are infinitely slower than mental motions, he can accomplish great things to ward quieting the line. By a little practice the mind catches a slower, more regular vibrations of the body, after which it is quite possible still further quiet it to a complete standstill as in making the mind a blank.

„Es ist der Glaube, der uns einen Weg gezeigt hat, wo es keinen Weg zu geben schien“ , schrieb Martin Luther King über seine Motivation, gegen Unrecht in der amerikanischen Gesellschaft zu protestieren. King, der als baptistischer Pfarrer eine Leitfigur im Kampf gegen die rassistische Diskriminierung der Schwarzen in Amerika in den 1950er und 60er Jahren war, gilt bis heute als Symbolfigur des gewaltlosen Widerstands. In besonderem Maße ist King ein Vorbild und eine Orientierung für Gerechtigkeit, Brüderlichkeit und dem Streben nach Frieden. Die vorliegende Hausarbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Thematisierung Martin Luther Kings im katholischen Religionsunterricht der Sekundarstufe I. Der Arbeit liegt die Frage zu Grunde, welche Aspekte von Kings Wirken SuS eine Möglichkeit eröffnen können, ihr eigenes Leben danach auszurichten. Es geht darum, den Vorbildcharakter von Martin Luther King herauszustellen und Anknüpfungspunkte für SuS hervorzuheben.
In dem der Einleitung anschließenden Kapitel 2 werden Grundlagen des biografischen Lernens erläutert und ein Bezug zum Religionsunterricht hergestellt. Es wird ein Augenmerk darauf gelegt, ob und inwiefern Vorbilder für heutige SuS relevant sind. Darauf folgt das Kapitel 3, welches Kings Biografie mit den bedeutendsten Stationen seines Lebens erläutert. Daran anschließend werden Kings Zugänge zum Christentum dargestellt und das Anknüpfungspotenzial für SuS herausgestellt. Im 4. Kapitel wird das Thema Martin Luther King in den aktuellen Lehrplan des katholischen Religionsunterrichts der Sekundarstufe I der Gesamtschule in NRW eingeordnet, um Realisierungsmöglichkeiten der Thematisierung auszuloten. Hierbei werden alle Jahrgangsstufen der Sekundarstufe I berücksichtigt, um eine Bandbreite der Behandlung dieses Themas zu schaffen. Anschließend daran werden im 5. Kapitel Unterrichtswerke des katholischen Religionsunterrichts der Sekundarstufe I hinsichtlich des Aspekts der Thematisierung Martin Luther Kings untersucht. Um den vorgegebenen Richtlinien des Lehrplans gerecht zu werden, wird ein Schulbuch der Klassen 5 und 6, 7 und 8 und 9 und 10 betrachtet. Im letzten Kapitel dieser Arbeit werden eigene Gedanken zu Martin Luther King und die Möglichkeiten der Behandlung in der Schule dargelegt.

Die Geschichte führt über Adam und Eva im Paradies, ihrer Vertreibung aus dem Garten Eden, hin zu ihren Nachkommen Kain, Abel und Set. In Genesis 5 wird die Liste der Geschlechterfolge bis hin zu Noah und seinen Söhnen dargestellt, bevor sich die nachfolgenden Kapitel mit der Sintflut und dem Bau der Arche beschäftigen. Nach der großen Flut beschreibt Genesis 10 die Nachkommenschaft Noahs und deren Sippenverbände, die alle die gleiche Sprache sprechen. Dies ändert sich in Genesis 11, als Gott beim Turmbau zu Babel die Sprache der Menschen verwirrt und sie über die gesamte Erde zerstreut. Das Kapitel fährt fort mit der Ahnenreihe Abrams von Sem bis Terach, der neben Abram auch Nahor und Haran zeugt. Abram nimmt sich die unfruchtbare Sarai zur Frau und zieht mit Terach und Lot, dem Sohn des verstorbenen Haran aus Chaldäa Richtung Kanaan. Doch auf dem Weg kommen sie durch Haran, einer in der heutigen Türkei liegenden Stadt, und lassen sich dort nieder. Mit dem Tod Terachs endet auch das elfte Kapitel und stellt damit die Ausgangssituation zu Genesis 12, 1-8 dar.
Der Textausschnitt handelt von der Berufung und der Wanderung Abrams nach Kanaan. Nachdem sich Abram mit seiner Familie in Haran niedergelassen hat, spricht Gott eines Tages zu ihm und fordert ihn auf, sein Land zu verlassen und an einen auserwählten Ort zu reisen. Denn der Herr will aus Abram ein großes Volk erschaffen und seinen Namen bekannt machen. Durch seinen Segen soll Abram überall Segen verbreiten. Abram gehorcht Gott und wandert mit fünfundsiebzig Jahren von Haran nach Kanaan. Er zieht mit seiner Frau Sarai und seinem Neffen Lot durchs Land b

Kaum ein Begriff hat eine negativere Bedeutung als das Böse. Das Böse wird als das Gegenteil des Guten verstanden. Es scheint überall präsent zu sein. Das Böse fasziniert, während das Gute eher unauffällig und selbstverständlich, vielleicht sogar ein wenig langweilig sein mag.
Das Böse ist allgegenwärtig und vieldeutig. Es war vom ersten Tag der Menschheit ihr Begleiter. Sowohl bei Adam und Eva, bei Kain und Abel aber auch in jedem Zusammenleben der Menschen vor tausenden Jahren.
Man macht es sich jedoch heute nicht mehr so einfach, die Existenz des Bösen schlichtweg hinzunehmen. Die Entstehung des Bösen wird hinterfragt, erforscht und diskutiert.

Diese Arbeit soll die Herkunft des Bösen von vier verschiedenen wissenschaftlichen Positionen beleuchten. Angefangen mit der theologischen Sicht, übergehend zur Sicht der Bio- und Soziobiologen, der Psychoanalytiker und schließlich mit der Position der Soziologen, soll das Essay einen kurzen Überblick über die verschiedenen Ansichten über die Herkunft des Bösen liefern.
