Die Rede ist von Werbungen. Sie versprechen uns weißere Wäsche, mehr Fahrfreude, weniger Hautunreinheiten und bessere Abwehrkräfte. Doch warum geben die Firmen mehrere Milliarden Euro für Werbungen aus, wenn die Studie von Kroeber-Ried zeigt, dass sie gerade mal von 2% von uns aufgenommen werden? (vgl. Kroeber-Ried, 1987) Die Antwort ist simple: Die Produkte sollen verkauft werden! Werbung verwendet Stereotypen und Klischees der Gesellschaft. Seit der Steinzeit werden Männer und Frauen bestimmten Stereotypen zugeordnet, ohne dass sie der eigenen Persönlichkeit entsprechen. Damals waren die Männer die Jäger, die das Essen mit nach Hause gebracht haben, und die Frauen waren jene, die auf das Zuhause aufgepasst haben. Mit der Frauenbewegung gewannen Frauen immer mehr Rechte, jedoch das „Hausfrauen"-Bild blieb weiterhin erhalten.
Und genau dieses Klischee finden wir in der modernen Gesellschaft noch immer, besonders in der Werbung. Diese Arbeit soll einen Beitrag zur Geschlechterforschung in Medien leisten. Es gibt nur wenige Studien aus den siebziger und achtziger Jahren, die sich mit der Gender-Wissenschaft im Medienbereich befassen. Wenn man jedoch die rasanten Änderungen in der Gesellschaft und die Entwicklung der Geschlechterrolle bedenkt, sind
diese Forschungen bereits veraltet und überholt. Als Untersuchungsobjekte dienen diverse Werbeformen der Reinigungsmittelindustrie. Dazu zählen alle Reinigungs-, Wasch- und Geschirrspülmittel-Werbungen. Meine Forschungsfragen sind:

"Roadside ASSistance" by Evan J. Xavier

This is a short, erotic story with a simple premise: Chris Saturday is driving home from a bar, along a rural Alabama road at night, during a rainstorm, when one of the tires in his car blows out. He calls for roadside assistance, and along comes hunky handyman, Anthony to the rescue. Anthony fixes Chris' tire, ambiguous flirting ensues briefly, before finally, full-on sex occurs.

The story includes only one real sex scene takes place on the side of a road, in a field, during the pouring rain. The scenario is hot, and the author throws in some good descriptions, but I feel like more could have been described. It would have been better if there had been more build-up leading to the climax, or if the sex scene itself had been a little longer. The story ends abruptly, just as another sex scene is about to begin. I wish the author would have continued with that scene, or fleshed the characters out a little more, because I was actually interested in reading more about them. Hopefully, the author will revisit these characters later on in an additional story/novella/book. Nevertheless, this was still a fun, short read.

MESSENGER is a Senior Research Officer with the Conditions of Work and Employment Programme of the International Labour Organization (ILO), with the lead responsibility for its programme on working time and work organization. He specializes in policy research on working time and work organization at the enterprise level, with a particular interest in issues relating to working time flexibility and new forms of work organization. He is the general editor of a forthcoming ILO publication on working time in the industrialized world, entitled Working time and Worker's Preferences in Industrialized countries: Finding the balance. Prior to joining the ILO, he worked at the US Department of Labor in Washington, DC, where he served as Team Leader for Research in Employment and Training Administration.

NAJATI GHOSHEH has a doctorarate from the University of Cambridge, UK and an MA in law from the University of Oxford, UK. He is a research officer with the Conditions of Work and Employment Programme of the ILO. He is currently working on the conditions of work and employment for older workers in the labour market. Since joining the department he has also worked on the reconciliation of work and family life, as well as addressing other working condition topics addressed in the Programme.
